Rouge

I have to say – I’m usually not a red lipstick kind of girl, It’s tends to look too elegant and feminine for my style. So you could imagine when I recently received the Rouge Silky Satin lipstick from the Christian Louboutin collection I wasn’t thrilled (except for the packaging, so nice!). I feel so bad asking someone to exchange a gift for me that I usually donate the ones I don’t want, but who donates Louboutin, right?! I was recently heading out of the house and really didn’t have a lot of time to get ready, I saw the lipstick sitting on my counter and figured what the hell I may as well give it a shot. I quickly realized that having red lips is the easiest way to get ready. I just need to do my brows and put on some red lipstick and I get the easiest, fastest and most elegant look ever . Plus, it’s the holidays so you know what that means ~ everything matches my lips!

Winter is slowly coming, and I’m slowly getting my fur coats out from my closet (too bad they seem to never find their way back – instead they tend to end up in a massive pile on the bench by my front door – I usually tell Bobby it is for when I have to throw one on to walk the dogs so he doesn’t have to but that’s not true (shh!). I found this raccoon fur scarf over the summer that I wasn’t going to buy but I couldn’t pass it and knew it would come in handy, it has become one of my favorite scarves lately. It goes with everything I wear, and it easily makes my outfit look so elegant, I go from zero to one hundred real quick. What I normally do is put it over the collar of a normal coat- immediately makes your coat look SO MUCH more expensive and your guaranteed to get.

Speaking of looking elegant, the bag that I’m carrying is one of a kind and gives even the gloomiest of outfits so much pop. The textile is from Guatemala and all the bags the company makes have different colors, weaving and even meanings. It’s like a morris code of the weaver’s life and social class on a piece of wonderful huipil (don’t worry I didn’t know what that was either, apparently it’s the term of Guatemalan clothing).

Holiday Gala

Holiday Season is officially here! If you follow my Insta story, it seems like we skipped thanksgiving this year because we decided to have the tree set up the day before thanksgiving 🙂 This is actually my first year having a real tree in my living room; a real, 10 foot tall, tree 🙂 My tree, Wilson, is 22 years old (apparently you can tell by counting the rings on the trunk when you cut it). I know that it’s very environmentally unfriendly to chop it down, however, it does smell very good in my living room. Plus, I saved it from being turned it into paper and preserved it in its most natural form, for now at least. A quick tip I learned this year to help in getting your living room smelling extra Christmas-y is when you buy a real tree they usually cut a small piece off the bottom of the trunk to help the tree absorb water better and live longer, well, you can take that piece and put a bit of water on it and put it on your radiator (if you have one) and your apartment/house will smell like a tree in no time!

I’m sure everyone has a little fancy event or work party to go to for the holidays. My rule of thumb is not to spend too much on the dress, but splurge on your shoes or clutch. First, wear something sparkly, either crystal or diamond-like accessories to catch people’s attention. Second, a pair of nice heels that matches with your outfit. Third, a recognized/catchy clutch (which actually isn’t a big deal to carry around all night because you can put your phone in there), better pack light!. As for your wallet? Your date better pay for you 😉 Last and most importantly, a nice simple (but sexy) dress that combined with the sparkly pop I mentioned earlier will give you that WOW outfit you are looking for and make other guests turn back to look at you.

Everyone always sweats about spending a lot for these events, but honestly you are probably going to wear that dress once. So why waste your money to get an expensive dress, when in reality you should save that money and invest in a pair of nice quality shoes or purse. The dress I’m currently wearing is from Tobi, and it’s currently on sale for $20!? I paired it with a cool (not expensive) crystal choker and a pair of Sergio Rossi heels to look more elegant and presentable. All-in-all a relatively inexpensive way to dress up for the holidays and spend the most on the items that you can re-wear/use (and in my case, my favorite) the bag and shoes!

Giving Thanks

Happy Turkey Day everyone! First, I want to thank all of you who have been encouraging and motivating me to blog. I’m sorry to have disappointed you all for quite a while with my lack of posts in 2016 but I am focused on being more active with it in 2017, I promise! I’ve been very blessed and fortunate to have my family and friends be always by my side, through thick and thin. Without you guys, I would probably still be a couch potato ’till today.

This season, I started collaborating with Tobi. Not only are their clothes up to date with the recent trends (and also fit well with my style) but they are pretty affordable as well, a great combo if you ask me. Also, for Black Friday I believe they are having a big sale with 50% off your first order so make sure to take a look!

It started getting pretty chilly in New York. I’m glad I took these shots when it was still nice out. Recently, I’ve been into oversize sweaters which sucks for Bobby because every now and then I will steal his cool sweaters to complete an outfit, they fit perfectly. So, when I saw that Tobi has this Brooklyn Fleece Sweater Dress, it was a jackpot! I’m not sure who was more excited, me for finding my new sweater dress or Bobby because his sweaters won’t go missing anymore (OK maybe still a few). Its actually pretty warm and the zippers on the elbows keep it looking a bit edgy and aren’t uncomfortable at all which is what sometimes happens with zippers on the elbows or knees. When it gets colder, I can pair this with leather pants 🙂

As mentioned in my last post, I’m currently super into pom poms. I’ve actually purchased this white, fluffy, soft pom pom from Canada and tied it into a pom beanie to make my own hat. Definitely going to be my winter go to accessory- and maybe go to Holiday gift 😉 Any cool ideas where I should be using this pom pom next?
