Soho is one of my favorite places in nyc. I love how people are very stylish, and they know everything about fashion. When you walk down the streets, people will immediately acknowledge your style. Sometimes they do give you the head-to-toe look, not because they are snobby (maybe a little), but because they like what you’re wearing. Soho is also Miki’s and my “playground”. Our favorite shops, Brandy Melville and Zara, are not far away from each other.  Moreover there are good brunch places, such as Mercer Kitchen and Balthazar. Last but not least, please stop by Dean and DeLuca to get their truffle pate, it’s seriously the BOMB.

It was my pleasure working with Allen. He’s an amazing photographer!  He chose and edited all these photos. Thanks again for taking time off  from your busy schedule to shoot for me! please check out his artsy photos on http://xcportfolio.com/

Take chances, take a lot of them. Because honestly, no matter where you end up and with whom, it always ends up just the way it should be.  Your mistakes make you who you are. You learn and grow with each choice you make.  Everything is worth it.  Say how you feel, always. Be you, and be proud with it.

Black, Gold & Peacock Feathers

Thank god it’s Friday! I finally get a day off to catch up with my homework and blog posts. However I have to work tomorrow because there are so much design work to catch up on before sending out the deliveries to manufactures. This is one of the projects where I place paper shapes onto the garment to make an interesting design.

It’s upsetting that I don’t get to spend Father’s Day with Dad this year. Although I’ve been studying abroad, I’m always back during this time of the year to be with my family. However I had to stay in New York for my internship, so I’m going back home later. My Dad is always my moral support. He writes me letters (well emails) every morning to tell me what he learned and experienced, so I could learn from his management skills. My dad treats me like a princess and he always give me the best of the best. I’m so blessed to have a father like him. There are times when I was difficult for him to handle, but there was never a time when I didn’t feel like he wasn’t at my side. I always try to make him feel proud of me. Thanks for giving me an awesome life and I love you, Daddy 🙂

Citi Girl

On June 2nd Citi Bank placed some bikes around the city for people to rent (just like the ones in London). I always think that it’s so hard to cycle around the city because I have to beware of the crazy drivers, and pedestrians who walks on the bike lane (I’m one of them ;)) I cycled to work one morning, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Thankfully I didn’t crash, but I wouldn’t do this again. I’m too careless, and I know one day I will get into an accident. I prefer the old fashion way, walking. I hope this weekend will have nice weather so I can cycle in Central Park with my friends. I’m glad that summer is here, and I get to do more outdoor activities with my friends. However, I can’t wait to go back to the hot, humid Hong Kong to see my parents 🙂

The Working Woman

It’s been a long week, and I’m glad I get time to update my blog 🙂 The other day I went to watch Now You See Me (Click for the trailer) with Winnie’s sister, Vickie, and I highly recommend you to go watch it! Since all my close friends left the city for summer break, I’ve been focusing on interning and school work.  Life isn’t that exciting recently. Camille is coming to New York this summer, and we are planning a trip to the West Coast 🙂 I cannot wait to travel!

This is what I wore for my interview for Catherine Malandrino. I paired it with black flats and a blazer to make myself more presentable. I read an article saying that human beings judge each other within 3 seconds, you might not agree to it, but it’s true. That’s why first impression is very important! Appearance matters and remember to smile 🙂

To be kind is more important than to be right.  Many times, what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens.

Oh my god, I’m finally experiencing the life of a working woman. I’m super busy with internship lately, and didn’t get to update at all. I thought it would be kind of chill, but it’s definitely a commitment. My working hours are from 930am to 600pm, with a 30 minutes lunch break in between, Monday-Thursday. I work for the design department, but basically I do everything my supervisor asks me to do. My work consist of sewing labels, researching for Spring 2014 trends, creating shipping labels, doodling novelty patterns, cutting out color/fabric samples, photocopying, and last but not least, running to Starbucks (thank god it’s just around the corner). And on top of that, I have to do my internship class homework, which involves so many discussions and writing 🙁 4 more weeks to go then I’m free!!!! Oh, change of plans… I’m actually going back to Hong Kong for 2 weeks in late June 🙂

Now that I wake up early in the morning, I try to make breakfast before heading to work. I made pancake for myself and charcoal, but it seems like he’s a bit confused.

I bought a lot of tees from Brian Lichtenberg this season. I like his humor about the existing fashion brands, and how it became very iconic and trendy.

My high school friend, May, who is also from Hong Kong came to New York for business trip. She offered to shoot for my blog, and we managed to shoot 4 outfits within 2 hours, then she had to rush for her flight to Maryland:( Thank you so much for taking photos and editing them. It was nice seeing you again! And hopefully you get to stay longer next time 🙂 Please check out her photography at http://www.artslant.com/global/artists/show/195405-may-yeung

If you’re lucky enough to find someone who makes you feel special, don’t ever take them for granted. Stick with them, fight for them, and never let them go.

Don’t Tame The Tiger

Last week was full of happiness and sorrows. I was happy to see Mikki graduate, but it was hard to say goodbye to her.  She is the sweetest, nicest, funniest person I ever met. She graduated and left New York City for good. No more girls’ brunch, gossips, fashion talks, workout sessions…. but our friendship will always last :’) Mikki, you’re like my sister and I treasure every memory and laughter we had. It doesn’t matter where you are, but I will always always be there for you.Good luck with finding a job in Vancouver 😉

Of course we cried….

There’s a saying that “If you don’t do foolish things when you’re young, you won’t have anything to smile about when you’re old.” I always knew that music carnivals aren’t my thing, because it’s too packed and people are crazy. Luis came to visit New York, and we both decided to go to EDC.  It was pretty fun, and the music was awesome. I couldn’t believe we stood/danced under the sun from 4-11 PM! It was nice meeting up with my Hong Kong buddy, James. Please check out his music at https://soundcloud.com/jameskwok

Last but not least, CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS CHANTAL CHOI! I’m glad that you finally made it through college 😉 ! Time flew by so quickly. I still remember our graduation from Berkshire School. Sorry I couldn’t attend your ceremony, but I’m sure you look gorgeous 🙂  Thanks for coming to visit me in NYC, I hope you had a great time! Weeehee 😀  (this was the only normal & clear photo we had… fun times :D)

Everyone is crazy about the Kenzo Tiger sweater this season, and it is sold out everywhere in the States. I tried waking up at 9:30am to purchase this sweater on net-a-porter, but they were already sold out.  Luckily, my good friend, Camille,  offered to mail one over from Paris so I could still wear my tiger sweater before it gets hot in Summer.

Do you know that Kenzo is having the eye sweater for Fall 2013?

Surround yourself with people who make you happy.  People who make you laugh, who help you when you’re in need.  People who would never take advantage of you.  People who genuinely care.  They are the ones worth keeping in your life.  Everyone else is just passing through.

Let The Summer Begin!

Yayyy it’s finally summer holiday for me! I get one week of chilling before internship starts. I went to Jimmy Choo’s sample sale with Mikki and Jess last week. Guess what we got! Christmas came early this year 😛

Once again I’m honored to wear this cropped shearling leather jacket designed by Winnie. I wore it in several ways because Winnie needs some artsy shots for her portofilo.

I was watching Eat Pray Love, and this quote defined the true definition of happiness

“People universally tend to think that happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will maybe descend upon you like fine weather if you’re fortunate enough.  But that’s not how happiness works.  Happiness is the consequence of personal effort.  You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it.  You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings.  And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it, you must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.” – Elizabeth Gilbert

thanks for all your support, you made my day

Bringing Colors into My Closet

Although it’s all about black and white this season, I still think that you need some colors for summer.  I’m not a big fan of girly floral colorful prints, but these pair of shorts immediately caught my eyes in Zara. I love how it has a bit sequins included, not too feminine and it brings out the taste of summer.
I finally got a chance to re-fold everything in my closet, and found out I have more leather pants than jeans! Guess how many pairs I have?

It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. It’s not what you see, it’s how you look at it. It’s not how your life is, it’s how you live it.

Going Biker

It’s always nice to have my girl friends over for dinner. I cooked them onion soup, salad and vodka sauce pasta. If you know me well, I’m not a good chef so it’s really not too fancy. But I would like to share my recipe of the salad because it’s super healthy without salad dressing/oil.
Spinach (the darker the greens are the healthier they are),apple, tomato, chicken, dried cranberries, eggs and avacado (make sure it’s ripe so it’s mushy and when you mix into the salad it creates the “dressing”)

This is what happens when wine is involved with a bunch of girls. Photobooth!!!

Another design from Winnie, the Biker Jacket. I remember my first leather jacket was a blue biker jacket with a buckle strap around the neck. I wore it almost everyday, until I had a matching Betty Boop leather varsity jacket with my friend, Sharon. Biker jackets were really popular back in those days, and almost everyone had one.  You can never go wrong buying biker style as your first leather jacket, it is one of the basics for leather garments.  I really like the details in this jacket, and I match it with some jewelries to make it into a rock-ish style.

one more week of finals then I’m DONE! can’t wait to intern in Catherine Malandrino this summer (: For those who are already having your summer break, enjoy it! And those who are still in school, work hard! Good days are around the corner!

Two things define you. Your patience when you have nothing, and your attitude when you have everything.

Spring Breeze

Sorry for the lack of updates, I was so busy with finals, projects and developing the details for my leather pants collection- Annette Lo. One more week to go then I’m done with this semester! woohooooo!!! (I’m just taking 3 classes in Fall, 2 of them are online, SLACKER haha). I’ve decided not to go back to Hong Kong for the summer, and stay in New York City and intern for Catherine Malandrino (hopefully I won’t be the coffee girl). Then my parents will over and we will go on a cruise with my relatives in Cali. Super excited for the summer already 😀

Time to choose some colors and patterns for my leather pants Fall 2013 collection. Any suggestions?photo 1

Life is like the ocean. It can be calm or still, and rough or rigid, but in the end, it is always beautiful.
