Le Seul Et L’unique

Le Seul Et L’unique means one and only one in french. I was honored to wear Winnie’s handmade garments, and have a photo shoot taken by her. This is one of my favorite jackets, because of the wool underneath the mesh. I love how the wool flows with the color blocking of the garment. It’s my first time not wearing anything in leather!

I often aim for the better, and try to be the perfect one. I came across this beautiful quote by Bob Marley and would like to share it with everyone.

“He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, don’t expect more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.” – Bob Marley

No one is perfect, so don’t be afraid to be imperfect. Always be yourself, no matter how many people try to break you down into someone else. The world needs more humans, not another robot.

Achromatic Again

I’ve been super busy with finals and projects lately, and didn’t get a chance to update often. It’s that time of the year where I’m mentally done with classes, and just want to enjoy the nice weather with my friends. But I keep telling myself not to let this last little bit ruin all the effort I gave throughout the semester. ARUGHH!!! To all of the ones who are graduating this spring, congrats!! I can’t wait to graduate….and be unemployed.

Since Spring is here, I decided to have a lighter shade of nail polish. I was inspired by the Yvest Saint Laurent Duo Terriblement Noir Manicure (see below). So instead of black, I did them in white. The most interesting part is that when my hands are dirty, my nails turn into grey. It acts as a warning to tell me to go wash my hands. (Now I fully understand why NYC is so filthy)

It’s black and white again!! Sorry, I’m such a boring person… I promise I’ll be a bit more colorful next post. Well at least the background makes it more interesting (:

Shooting in Black

Although my trip to Cali was short, but it was great. I went to San Diego and visited my friend who goes to SDSU, and experienced a lot of first times, such as working out in a college gym, being on a party bus (hmm not my style), throwing American football and shooting with a pistol (omg I was shaking after because it was so scary). Here are some photos from my trip.

In and Out is a MUST have when you go to Cali.

It’s my first and last time being in a party bus situation.

The Gladiator

Since Tiger Fever is super trendy now, I decided to throw on my tiger top with a girly slit maxi skirt from Brandy and Melville. Brandy Melville has always been my favorite brand for the past couple seasons. They always have really soft fabric, simple design and affordable price. I matched this outfit with these gladiator sandals which is coming back to trend again.

Part 2- Sports Style to Street Style

Since I wasn’t that comfortable and confident wearing a sweater, shorts and heels I decided to give it a slight change.  Every time when I shoot, I try to bring multiple outfits, so I could get more photos and update more often (: I’m recently really into black and white combo, and play with the colors of my accessories.

I will be traveling to California to visit my friends and family today. More tan for me hehehe 😀 Oh, and a little more information about me, I’m not mix. I’m full on Chinese + Chinese, but I’m not good in Math. (I’m one of those Asians who needs a calculator for everything. well it’s invented for a reason right?)

The Liebster Award

I would like to thank Tuva Mossin who has nominated me for the Liebster award.  I know I probably won’t win, but I think it’s a nice way to introduce the real side of me to all of you.
This works like a chain letter, from one blogger to another blogger, and on and on… The goal of this award is to highlight blogs with fewer than 200 followers that are up and coming. Encouraging people to visit blogs that others enjoy seems like a great initiative. Liebster means “dearest” in German and this award was started by a German blogspot blogger in 2010. The rules for the award are pretty straightforward:
1. Post eleven facts about yourself
2. Answer the questions from the person who nominated you
3. Invent eleven questions to ask the people you have nominated for the award
4. Choose eleven people (with fewer than 200 followers) to nominate for the award and link to them in your post
5. Go to their blog and tell them

1. Eleven facts about me:

1.    I’m studying in Fashion Merchandising Management in FIT. It is an art school, but I CAN’T draw, I can doodle only.
2.    I live with my Chihuahua called Charcoal, he’s the love of my life.  I got him when I was in LA.

3.    I love Ray Ban’s aviators, so classy yet stylish.
4.    I went to an all girls’ Catholic school from Grade 1- 9.
5.    Tennis is my favorite sport, I have been playing it since 12.
6.    I have a mean New Yorker face, but I have a warm Californian heart. ( Don’t be scared, I won’t bite)
7.    I believe in Karma. You get what you give.
8.    I don’t like to drink water, so I put fruits into it to make it more tasteful. (My friends call it spa water.)
9.    My dad forced me to have short hair until I was 6 years old. His theory was that I was too young to take care of myself, let alone take care of my hair. (Girls in my kindergarten didn’t want to hang out with me because I had short hair, so I was always running around with the boys. Probably that’s why I’m pretty athletic now. Thanks Dad, but your theory is slightly flawed.)
10.     I love traveling.
11.    Chocolate is my frenemy. It’s bad for my diet, but I absolutely crave for it when it’s THAT time of the month. (okay, that might just be an excuse)

2. Questions from my nominator

These are the questions from my nominator, Tuva Mossin. Thanks again for nominating me (:
1.    If you could travel back in time – where would you go, and why?
If I could travel back in time, I would want to see my grandparents from my dad’s side. Unfortunately, they both passed away when I was very young, and I don’t remember spending time with them.  I would really want to get to know them and hear about their experiences from the past.
2.    Who is your biggest style icon?
I don’t have a style icon.  I’m attracted to what people are wearing, but not how they mix and match. I like the Olsen Twin’s style sometimes.

3.    Whose life would you pick if you could switch lives with any person in the world?
I’m very satisfied and grateful with my life and I can’t think of anyone I would switch with. Celebrities or billionaires still have problems and stress in their lives, sometimes ones that are even more overwhelming than what I deal with.
4.    Who is the most inspiring person you have ever met?
My dad has always been the person who inspires and motivates me. He taught me a lot of morals and Chinese philosophy when I was young, so that I could apply them into my everyday life when I grew up. One of the saying I live by is 一勤天下無難事 (Translation: Nothing is impossible when you’re a hard worker).
5.    What kind of music do you listen to?
Whatever is playing in the clubs, usually electronic and house music.
6.    What items do you usually carry in your purse?
Ray Ban aviators, chapstick, headphones and a card holder: Metro card, credit card, ID and some cash. Well, and my phone, duh.

7.    How is your perfect Saturday night?
There’s no typical perfect Saturday night, I’m full of surprises (:
8.    What are the top three items on your wish list right now?
Hermes Birkin, Aston martin DB9, and a Private Jet please (: (Dream big or go home, right?!)
9.    What are you going to do in the summer?
I’m going to work at an internship in June. Then I’m planning to go to Cali and Vegas in July with Camille. And then going to Miami with my parents for a cruise trip. (I’m so excited, it’s the first time they’re coming to visit me in NYC!)
10.    If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’ll stay in New York City. It’s the best place ever. I’m very content with my lifestyle here.
11.    Where do you see – or hope to see – yourself in ten years?
I hope I will have a well-known and established brand, and I better be married to my Prince Charming by then too.

3. My questions

I’m interested in knowing you too! It would be nice if you have time to reply these questions.

1. What is your all time favorite clothing/accessory?
2. If you can get an exotic animal as your pet, what would you choose?
3. If you got the chance to meet someone in particular (living or dead), who would it be? Why?
4. Where would you want to visit this summer?
5. If E channel or Bravo gives you an opportunity to create a show, what would it be and what would you name it?
6. What is your favorite quote?
7. What is your favorite food?
8. Who do you like to wear?
9. If you were thrown onto an island (like the TV series Lost) with nothing and no one on it, and you could only bring one thing with you, what would it be?
10. What is your favorite scent for candles?
11. What is one of the things that absolutely creeps you out?

4. The blogs I have nominated

There’s no special order in particular.

My high school friend, Mika, (all the way on the right) came to visit me last weekend. I brought her along with few girl friends to the Jane Hotel. It’s a really fun and causal lounge. Special Thanks to Mika who helped me proof read 😛

I will be traveling to California to visit my friends and family tomorrow. More tan for me hehehe 😀

YSL without Y

This week’s theme for  T#g a Trend is sports style, and it made me wonder how fashionable it could be.  I always hear that sports style is coming back as a trend, however I never let myself explore it. I tried to look up some trendy sports style from other bloggers and figured a sweater, shorts and a pair of heels would be acceptable. Please visit T#g a Trend for more photos of other bloggers. Thanks Katie for publishing my photo on her blog (:

So I was actually laughing while Mikki took this shot (Specially uploaded for the ones who think I need more smiles and giggles in my photos). I know I look horrible, I had to wake up at 7 AM so we could shoot before heading to spinning class. It’s one of those bad hair days where I need a beanie to cover my lioness hair S:

So I’ve been trying to be on a diet, and Mercer Kitchen’s Passion Fruit Pavlova ruined my plan. I had this 3 times last week. No Joke. It’s meringue shaped like an egg, with passion fruit sorbet in the middle. It’s very light and sweet, but the sourness of the passion fruit balances out the sweetness. Must Eat!

Super Special thanks to Mikki for waking up early to take photos of the grumpy me.
(I’m pretty grumpy when I don’t get enough sleep… now you know when to back off)

Orgin of Aleatherista

Everyone wonders how do I come up with “aleatherista” as my blog name. Firstly, it’s pronounced as a-leather-rista.  A represents Annette.  I think that leather plays a very important role in fashion, especially high-end fashion.  Some of you might think that leather is just for Fall and Winter season, however leather is an all season round fabric.  There are leather shoes, handbags, accessories which you wear during summer.  Last but not least, “rista” comes from “fashionista”, and ending “aleather” with “ista” makes it sounds like it’s regard to fashion. Aleatherista is a blog where I corporate leather into my daily outfits (:  (sorry PETA people, sometimes I wear faux leather/fur too)

Alaïa for Coachella

Unfortunately I had school and couldn’t go to Coachella. It was a very hot and sunny day in the city, and I was feeling very bohemian and festive. I decided to throw on a hat and take a quick stroll in Times Square. Most of the time, I try to avoid walking through Times Square because there are so many tourists. However I didn’t feel like that today, I wanted to dress differently from a New Yorker and act like a tourist and feel the atmosphere in this iconic location. Sometimes it feels good to step out of your comfort zone and explore what’s around you in a different perspective.

To all of those who are in Boston, I’m glad to hear that you’re fine. I hope none of your friends or family was injured. Karma will punish the ones who do evil to their own kind. This tragedy reminds me to appreciate every breathe that I’m inhaling, and to treasure every friend I have.

Life does not put things in front of you that you are unable to handle. x.

Lady White Out

Since the trend for this season is all white, I decided to go with this Angelic theme. This shooting took place at Lincoln Center, it often gives me a feeling of prestige and high class (probably because of the ballet performances and high end fashion shows). That’s why I went for this full on white outfit to match this nice environment.
